Savage Corridor

The Savage Corridor runs through the center of the Desaryn Mountains and splits the Baar Dysh nation into its west and eastern regions. It sits at what many call the base of the Dark Spire running a northernly route towards Garandor. In reality it cuts the Dark Spire in two towards the great mountain’s westerly side.

The whole of the corridor is jagged as if the gods broke the mountain apart. It stretches for nearly 5 miles wide and over 150 miles long cutting right through the center of Baar Dysh. It is surrounded by sheer granite cliffs that nearly block out all the light from the sun. The corridor only sees light from mid-morning (10 am) to mid-afternoon (2 pm); the remainder of the day leaves the corridor in a twilight darkness until nightfall when the corridor becomes so dark and desolate that only a few creatures dare venture into the corridor.

The corridor’s granite vertical walls rise to nearly over 12,000 feet at its middle. The walls are combination of smooth, glass like surfaces and jagged, sharp edges that cut in to the walls at harsh angles. The ground of the corridor is often covered with left over rockslides, dark, deep pools, and the remains of creatures and beings that have moved through the corridor without proper protection. There is a well established caravan route through the center of the corridor, which is often patrolled by various mercenary guards, and a number of squadrons of the Knights of Dardura.

It is home to many dark, fell creatures which reside in the dark tunnels and caves that are found nearly everywhere. There are three small, fiercely guarded villages in the corridor that provide a safe place to rest: Merrick, Dark Port, and Hastoo. The walls are marred with caves and tunnels, a number of which lead into the bowels of Deep Earth as well to large underground caverns within the Dark Spire and the surrounding mountains.

While there are no villages towards the center of the corridor, many priests of Elal and Hadak have made it their goal to offer protection at various waymoots located within the corridor. Many of these are built directly into the granite walls and surrounded by magical charms and divine blessings. Those that travel the corridor do so quickly moving from one waymoot to another.

Many okus, fir darrig, oracs, and ain giants, as well as other monsters, have claimed areas of the corridor and often wage war with one another over these. The largest and fiercest of these tribes is the Khultarak Oku Tribe, which is lead by a mutated half oku-shaldhun monster known as the Dark Eye.

At either end of the Savage Corridor’s openings the Knights of Dardura and the Guard of Garandor have constructed very high and strong gates with only a single opening at the center of the constructed wall to allow caravans to pass through. Many battle have played out near these walls as various okus, fir darrig, orac or ain giant tribes have tried to break them down and invade the surrounding lands.
